1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Shovel Brigade, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

Shovel Brigade is a volunteer coordination platform that connects community members who need help clearing snow with volunteers willing to provide that assistance. This is a free, volunteer-led service.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this service. By using Shovel Brigade, you represent that you are of legal age and have the right and authority to enter into this agreement.

4. User Conduct

As a user of Shovel Brigade, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information
  • Use the service only for its intended purpose (snow removal assistance)
  • Not use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Treat all participants with respect and dignity
  • Not harass, abuse, or harm others through the service

5. Volunteer Commitments

Volunteers who claim a shoveling request commit to:

  • Completing the task within 24 hours of claiming it
  • Only claiming requests they are able and willing to complete
  • Performing work safely and competently
  • Never entering a requester's home
  • Not accepting payment or tips

6. Requester Responsibilities

Those requesting help understand that:

  • This is a volunteer service with no guarantee of fulfillment
  • Volunteers should not be invited inside homes
  • Payment or tips should not be offered or accepted
  • Outdoor areas only (driveways, walkways, sidewalks)
  • They should not rely on this as their sole snow removal plan

7. Assumption of Risk

IMPORTANT: Shovel Brigade is a coordination platform only. We do not perform background checks on volunteers or requesters.

By using this service, all participants acknowledge and agree that:

  • Participation is at your own risk
  • Shovel Brigade is not responsible for any injury, damage, loss, or harm that may occur
  • You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of others
  • You should use your own judgment when interacting with others through the service

8. No Warranties

The service is provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shovel Brigade and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the service.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to our service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including breach of these Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
